Description of Target Audience

The age of our target audience would be the age of 15 to 30, the reason why this age is because young people would enjoy this film as this sets a chilling vibe down their spine. The reason why we chose 30 year olds is because they would still keep a keen interest in a horror films. More male's would keep a interest in our horror films as female's would be more scared. The reason why our target audience is more male to female is because it is a known fact that men prefer horror films as women prefer more romantic films.
The social demographic we would give for our target audience is C1 C2 D E, the reason of this is because the upper class will not watch films in a cinema or at home because they are into tradition forms of entertainment such as opera and theatre. So this is the reason why we chose C1 C2 D E as this is more towards there life style and hobbies as they would get their entertainment from their television. So the occupation: of the target audience watching would be students, full time job's, and unemployed. The hobbies and interest that are target audience may be interesting in is on average the same as everyone else so football and more men would take up this sport, maybe going to the gym as our target audience would more likely to go gym as they are in the range of 15 to 30. Education would be a interest as this would appeal to some of the target audience such a Sci fi, watching horror films or different Genre in the Cinema and as well watching it on the television. The typical Style the target audience would be wearing  would be Indie, Gothic, Basic(jeans, t-shirt), and the reason of this would be gothic audience would be more interested in possession and horror films as this will attract there attention. So the Personality of our target audience could be depressing people, Gothic, metal, as these personalities would be more interested into the horror genre as this shows blood, screams, terror and a spine chilling experience. Our target audience favourite music, films are television programmes. The favourite music could be different bands such as Bring me to Horizon and You Me At Six, the reason of this is because its a rock band which shows their personality to be very dark, which gives them the reason why to like horror films. The target audience favourite films could very well be Paranormal activity and Saw as the genre of this is a horror, which this is the same of our opening sequence. Finally the favourite TV shows of our target audience could very well be Super Natural and Most Haunted as these shows give different impressions to different people, but mostly a spine chilling one as this connects well to are film opening sequence.
This is offering the target audience entertainment as this offers the audience the forms of fear and excitement, through moments of shock and tension. This film allows the audience to escape from their daily "grind" because it contains forms that are not everyday experiences. This film also allows the audience to escape because the film has a supernatural atmosphere which they cannot relate to.

Research Into Genre

Exorcist of Emily Rose

Conventions of the genre:
This is the front cover of the film Exorcist of Emily Rose which was first screened in 25th of November 2005. As you can see from this front cover this shows to be very bleak which emphasises to the audience that this genre is a horror. The title really stands out to the audience as this shows to be a red or black shade, this shows to the audience that this is blood. There shows to be a character in the front cover which does not show her face as this gives the audience an unanswered mystery as they do not know what the main characters will look like, as this stands out and looks very authentic. The tree in the background explains that this could be set in the middle of nowhere, also this shows that she is lonely as there is only one tree and her.

In a horror film, there are different props that are used to show that this film is going to be bloody, deadly etc. Props such as guns, Knifes, chainsaws. etc.

This is the trailer of 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' and the main character from this film is Robert Englund, and this character has been in all off the Freddy Kruger films which makes him a really famous actor for the genre horror. The director of this film was Wes Craven and also this director has directed all the 'Scream' films which shows that he has a very good genre image.

Blood is a very big deal as this shows a lot in a horror film, blood represents death, pain and danger. This is also gory and sickening which adds tot the horror of the film and the shocking nature to is as well. This is a typical prop which is also in a horror films which emphasises death. Main characters always carry a knife such as the films, Halloween, Scream etc. However there are all different weapons which are used in a horror film such as claws, chainsaws, guns, etc.

Some famous actors which are in different horror films Jack Nicholson (The ShininG) , Jamie Lee Cutis(Halloween), Cillian Murphy(28 days later).
Also some famous directors in different horror films are James Wong, Wes Craven

Typical Music for a horror film.

This is a very stereotypical 80,s music for a horror film. This shows children from age 4 and above singing a song which explains the film Nightmare in elm street. In the background of the music, here is shown to be a breathing in the background that represents the killer maybe breathing. There is also a sound effect which sounds like a door locking in the background which can represent a women being trapped.

Location Ideas

                                                                       Archive/Boiler Room
We started to look at possible locations to film our horror opening sequence. The school archive/boiler room was something we wanted to explore as it looked authentic and created a eery feel. The left picture is the boiler room where we hope to film our main character in. We may film the character in the corner of this room loosely framed being trapped. We also filmed a point of view shot coming down the stairs into both the boiler room and the actual archive which is a possible idea when shooting

Surrey

The reason why i took a picture of the barbed wire is because this can show death, meaning this is a no-entry sign so this shows people should not climb over this wall as its a un-answered question on whats behind this.

The reason why i took a picture of a tree is because this can show a scene where somebody could be behind this tree, so its a surprise. If you can see from this picture, you can only see the tree then blackness in the background so it seems curious on whats creeping in the darkness.

Conventions Of Opening Sequences

Love Actually Opening Sequence

This is the instutional Logo, showing that this is a 'UNIVERSAL' who are the creaters of the film, same as Warner Brothers etc. The colour of this logo is very useful and this shows the Earth which is in a bright blue and also the font is in a thick white which stands out with the black background, so this will make it clear the the audience what and who the institution logo are.

The first opening to this sequence is introducing the Institutional Logo which is the 'Universal Pictures'. As you can see from this image on the left, the colours our represented to be red and white to show that this film is a very romantic and also reflects to the audiences from the female prospective. This is the same for the title. During this clip there is a voice over which explains the situation which is being shown, this is showing familie's and friends who they have not seen in a long time meeting again showing the love they have, these are not actors or actresses, these are real people showing that Love is all around.

This Credit show shown to emphasise the title of the film
which is 'Love Actually' and the colours which are white and red to show happiness and also love that is all around.

The first opening sequence i am introducing is the film Jaws. The first title which introduced it self is what company the film comes from, so this is the 'UNIVERSAL AN MCA COMPANY'.

This first screen shot shows how the title first introduce itself, there is a point of view shot under water which tell's the audience that this is a unanswered question throughout the beginning. There is non-digectic music in the background which tells their is a dark presence underneath the water. The Jaws title shows that this is a very bold which also stands out, and using the white colour font, this stands out from the background which engages the audience to build suspense.

As the camera is moving faster and faster underneath the water and the non-digectic music building up faster and faster, this is builder tension and a great suspense to the audience. Which the credits popping up which shows the audience a idea on who's the actors and directors of the film.

The the non-diegetic music, this cuts into a scene showing a bunch off teenagers doing stuff which they are not aloud to be doing. There is a pan shot showing all different types of teenagers smoking, kissing etc. This tells the audience that the audience are very young so they will do stuff which is illegal.
